Meet Dr. Ricardo Ortiz, DMD, MD

A Commitment to Service and Healing

Dr. Ricardo Ortiz MD,DMD  is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and completed advanced training through Harvard-affiliated surgical programs. He is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon through the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and brings more than 20 years of combined experience in U.S. Army Infantry service and Navy surgical practice. With a background in trauma surgery, he is uniquely prepared to manage complex procedures and unexpected emergencies with confidence and precision—providing patients an added level of safety and reassurance throughout their care.

Dr. Ricardo Ortiz’s journey to becoming an oral and maxillofacial surgeon was shaped by a deep commitment to service. A retired U.S. Navy and Army veteran, his deployment to Iraq—and firsthand exposure to severe facial trauma in combat—ignited a lifelong mission: to restore form, function, and dignity to patients facing complex surgical challenges.

Today, in addition to leading his private practice, Dr. Ortiz serves as Senior Surgeon for the Facial Trauma Team at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, where he manages some of the region’s most complex reconstructive cases.

When he established his practice in 2018, it was built on a simple but powerful promise: to deliver world-class surgical excellence while maintaining a deeply personal, human connection with every patient.

Dr. Ricardo Ortiz is a dual-degree oral surgeon (MD and DMD) with elite training in general surgery and anesthesia from Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.
